A Fairytale in Black: Scott & Claire’s Wedding
I already knew Scott and Claire before their wedding weekend — I had been booked to film their day as their wedding videographer. But just two days before the ceremony, their photographer had to drop out unexpectedly. Rather than let that derail their plans, they asked if I could step in to capture their photos as well. Since I was already in Michigan with all my gear (and photography is where my love for storytelling began), I immediately said yes. What started as a last-minute pivot turned into one of the most magical weddings I’ve ever had the honor of documenting.
A Whimsical Wedding with Fairycore Magic
From the moment I stepped into the venue, I knew this would be something special. The entire day was bathed in fairycore wedding vibes — soft florals, whimsical decor, and an atmosphere that felt straight out of a woodland dream.
Claire completely stole the show in a black wedding dress that blended elegance with a touch of mystery. Against the lush greens and bright summer colors, her look was bold, unexpected, and totally unforgettable.
Her bouquet was a burst of vibrant colors — coral, lavender, and golden yellow — tying the whole scene together. Between the butterflies floating in the breeze, the laughter of their guests, and the genuine joy between Scott and Claire, the day felt full of life and magic.
Real Moments, Real Emotion
One of my favorite parts of documenting weddings is capturing the moments you can’t plan for — the laughter between vows, the hugs after the ceremony, the way friends erupt into cheers when the dance floor opens.
Even though my role changed at the last minute, everything flowed naturally. Scott and Claire’s energy made the day so easy and fun to shoot. Their love was the kind that filled every frame — raw, real, and ridiculously joyful.
By the end of the night, I wasn’t just their videographer-turned-photographer; I felt like part of their circle.

Michigan’s light that day was unreal — soft and golden one moment, bright and vibrant the next. I leaned into that dynamic energy, using my signature bold, true-to-color style to highlight all the contrast between the black wedding dress and the bright floral details.
